About the SBL
The Sierra Baseball League, founded in 2007, was the brainchild of Lodi GrapeSox owner and President Stevie Mac. It was Mac’s vision that accomplished what many said could not be done – the establishment of a true “Super League” in the State of California.

The focus of the SBL is to bring minor league style baseball to mid-sized communities throughout the West while featuring affordable family entertainment. Cities like Lodi, Arcata in Humboldt County, Santa Maria, San Luis Obispo, Clovis, East LA, Medford, Oregon, Redding, Carmichael, San Jose, Stocton, Woodland, and San Mateo are the backbone of the Sierra Baseball League, and it is those franchises that are the foundation of the SBL now and in the future.

Traditionally, teams like those featured in the SBL showcase some of the top talent in the country. As a result, future Major League stars will grace the diamonds of the SBL each season, bringing excitement to their team’s communities while entertaining thousands of fans each summer. Former Major League Baseball stars like Vida Blue, Bill Buckner, Candy Maldonado, Fernando Valenzuela, Robin Ventura, Mike Aldrete, and Ozzie Smith showcased their considerable talents while starring for teams in cities currently affiliated with the Sierra Baseball League.

Hall of Fame coach Phil Swimley is the Commissioner of the SBL. A former Board member of the American Baseball Coaches Association, Swimley won over 900 games as a college head coach, advancing to the NCAA tournament six times while playing in one College World Series. An icon in the sport, Coach Swimley has been instrumental in developing the ideas behind the Sierra Baseball League.

Bruce Gallaudet will handle all aspects of marketing on behalf of the Sierra Baseball League. A former newspaper editor and publisher, Gallaudet most recently held the position as General Manager of the Solano Thunderbirds. Gallaudet will work closely with SBL owner Stevie Mac developing the current roster of Sierra Baseball League franchises, as well as establishing new franchises throughout the Western part of the United States.

Angela Tatem handles much of the SBL's inner workings throughout the office.  Besides payroll, Angela handles Human Resources, Hiring and Firing, and all matters related to the general operating budget.  Currently the COO of United Advocates for Children and Families, Angela's skills are second to none and the SBL is proud to have her as part of the team.
